"Cutting off the nose to spite the face" is an expression to describe a needlessly self-destructive over-reaction to a problem.
"Don't cut off your nose to spite your face" is a warning against acting out of pique, or against pursuing revenge in a way that would damage oneself more than the object of one's anger.
This good old expression is particularly relevant for people who represent others... like politicians.
Because in cutting off their own noses, politicians run the risk of harming all those they represent.
Which clearly illustrates why Julius Malema is such a piss-poor politician.
Let me explain.
He obviously has absolutely no regard for the people of the Mandela Bay area because he is prepared to sacrifice their very adequate Mayor PURELY as an act of revenge.
Like a child, in a petulant gesture of spite and malice, he wants to remove Athol Trollip as the Mayor, ONLY because the DA didn't vote in favour of his motion to change the constitution regarding land expropriation.
In other words, he is not considering what is best for the people, only the best way to satisfy his own personal lust for retribution.
This tells me one thing.
Malema is not interested in the people of this land.
He has scant regard for his own voters.
The only thing that motivates him is POWER.
He wants power AT ANY COST.
And anyone who considers voting for him should think very carefully before doing so.
In summary, because of his tyrannical lust for control at any price, Julius Malema is very willing to cut off his nose to spite his face.
I just wish he would cut off his very dangerous mouth instead.
