The Constitutional Court's long awaited verdict is in in a matter challenging the dismissal of the previous head of the NPA and the appointment of Shaun the Sheep.
I think the Constitutional Court's ruling today was a good step forward for accountability.
The Con Court agreed that Mxolisi Nxasana, previous NDPP, had undue pressure put on him by Jacob Zuma to vacate his office but that that did not justify him taking the easy way out by taking the golden handshake of R17 million.
He has to repay R10 million and his re-instatement can not be allowed, despite a minority judgement that he can be re-instated.
Cyril Ramaphosa is ordered to appoint a new NDPP of the NPA within 90 days.
This is not the end of the road.
In article after article General Johan Booysen, ex head of the Hawks in KZN, has described how Abrahams led a captured cabal in the NPA.
General Booysen named the cabal one by one.
Despite the dismissal of Abrahams, the captured cabal remains and what is more important is that Abrahams appointed these captured people in powerful positions as his deputies and especially in the Priority Crimes Litigation Unit.
Thank you to CASAC, Corruption Watch and Freedom Under Law for the big favour they did us by bringing this application to challenge the validity of the Sheep's appointment.
Here are the articles by General Booysen exposing Abrahams's criminal cabal in the NPA that acted as a Praetorian Guard for the looters and state capturers and was used to persecute and trump up charges against honest people opposing corruption.
